Communication consists of both language and culture. This site is dedicated to helping both Chinese and expats (people from other countries) to build a bridge across the communication gap. On this homepage, the left column is for Chinese people. The right column is for expats. This Chinese column has two purposes; (1) To help Chinese people improve their English skills, and (2) To help Chinese people understand foreign cultures and practices so that, when they go abroad or host international people, they can do so confidently, successfully, and without losing face.
Below, you can choose the precise kind of information you are looking for. There are two categories: Language and Culture. BRAIND NEW! You want your English to sound more like a native English speaker, but you know you sound different. Most cities in China have lots of resources for travel, work and study. If your destination is Beijing, be sure to check out eBeijing, the city government's official English website. The content of this site is not political, as one may expect from something government owned. Instead, the site is run by people who genuinely want to help expates enjoy their time in Beijing.
The site is loaded with useful information about tourists sites, entertainment venues, food, shopping, culture, Chinese law, and almost anything else you may want to know about the city. The site even includes articles written by me, Michael, your host here at the Language-Culture Bridge. You can read these articles on Michael's Blog. |
